WiFi Network Planning

Fast and easy meets scientific wireless network design

AirMagnet Planner allows us to predictively model WiFi network changes or design a new network for optimal coverage, connectivity, and performance with comprehensive wireless design software. It also allows us to compare plans side-by-side, validate requirements, or generate custom reports.

Key Features

Accurately plan and design WiFi networks without physically rolling out any APs.

Optimize AP count and layout for maximized coverage and performance by modeling building construction materials/obstructions and AP placement.

Reduce time spent planning by quickly importing walls from CAD floor plans.

Estimate WiFi deployment budgets; generate installer-ready BOM reports.

Plan migration strategies as new users or technologies are introduced.

Planner

Allows us to enter information on your building materials, attenuation areas, and APs for an entire building.

Benefits: Uses information about the physical environment to accurately calculate how many Access Points you need and where to place them. Plus provides visibility on how the WiFi network signal can propagate through an entire building.

Planner Advisor

The Multi Floor Planner Advisor will automatically calculate how many APs you need and where to place them. It will also provide visibility on how the signal of specific APs propagates throughout the building.

Benefits: Remove all guess work from the WiFi network planning process! Quickly determines how many APs will be needed and where to place them based on the physical environment and your requirements.

Customizable Reports

We can generate customizable reports utilizing either an existing template or a custom report.

Benefits: Quickly generate reports as required while having the option to easily create custom reports. Simplifies the process of generating Bill of Material and Planner Reports.

Professional WLAN Modeling

AirMagnet Planner makes it easy to build a detailed model of any wireless environment – even before the network is deployed or the building is constructed. We simply load in a map of your location and use the built-in library of walls, doors and windows to precisely match the building’s characteristics. AirMagnet Planner allows us to add AP’s to any location and experiment to find the ideal placement for the environment based on your requirements. AirMagnet Planner also provides independent settings for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios. We can set the AP channel, IP address, transmit power, antenna type, orientation, height, and 802.11 specifications. When the planning session is complete, we are able to generate a professional Bill of Materials report with all the information that is needed to properly install the network. Along with RF coverage information, we will have access to performance metrics such as data rates and throughput.

Automatic Wall Extraction (AWE)

This allows us to reduce the amount of time spent preparing a floorplan for wireless deployment by quickly importing walls from CAD floorplans with only a few clicks of the mouse. Each CAD layer can be individually selected and given a unique attenuation type.

802.11 Modeling

With AirMagnet Planner, we can design new WiFi networks, as well as plan their migration strategies for existing legacy networks, including one-to-one replacements or the phased introduction of devices into their legacy network. We can plan their deployments for user capacity or performance without any physical AP rollout. AirMagnet Planner provides unique coverage maps for WLAN throughput and other technology specific heat maps such as signal coverage, Operating Modes, MCS Transmit Rate, Channel Width and Channel Overlap, to predict the WLAN performance at every location on the floor and offer the best design that minimizes any rework once the network is deployed.

Multi-Floor Modeling

As we plan and design wireless access in your multi-floor buildings, it makes economic sense to reuse services of APs to lower equipment deployment costs. With AirMagnet Planner’s multi-floor planning capability, we can visualize coverage and performance heat maps in 2D and 3D across floors, providing powerful insight into bleed over to adjacent floors.

This empowers us with the visualizations of signal strength, data rates, Operating Mode, MCS Transmit Rate, Channel Width, and Channel Overlap between floors and more.
